Awagami is located in Yoshinogawa village (on Shikoku island) where mountains and rivers provide the fiber and water necessary for papermaking. This region is both an agricultural and spiritual heartland with its 88 famed temples dotting the islands landscape. On your journey to Awagami, you will seemingly step back in time to experience a part of rural Japan not often seen by tourists. We look forward to your visit.

From Osaka, Kyoto or Kobe

We recommend taking a bus to “JR Tokushima Station”. There are several bus companies operating the between Kansai Area & Tokushima Station. It’s recommended to reserve your ticket in advance; however, tickets can be purchased at the gate counter of each bus stop. After arriving at JR Tokushima Station, you must take a local (or express) train to “JR Yamakawa Station.” Awagami is a 15 minute walk / 3 minute taxi from Yamakawa Station.

From Kansai Airport

Take a bus from the airport to “JR Tokushima Station” – busses leave approximately every hour from the airport. You can purchase the ticket at the bus service counter or from vending machine outside.

From Tokyo

You can take either domestic flight from the Haneda airport or take a train. If you prefer to take a train, we recommend to take a Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Kobe (*the bullet train is not operated within Shikoku island), then take a bus from Kobe to Tokushima Station. This takes nearly a whole day to travel, so we recommend taking a flight to Tokushima Airport if you would like to save time.
